How to Transfer Items Diablo 4 (Step-by-Step Guide Between Chars)

Transferring items between your characters in Diablo 4 is straightforward using the Shared Stash. Here's how:

Transfer Items via Shared Stash

  • Access any Stash chest located in towns like Kyovashad, Ked Bardu, or Gea Kul.
  • Navigate to the Shared Stash tab (represented by a box icon).
  • Place the items you want to transfer into any vacant slot within the Shared Stash tab.
  • Exit the Stash menu.
  • Log out of your current character.
  • Log in with the character intended to receive the items.
  • Open the Stash again and go to the Shared Stash tab.
  • Retrieve the items using your target character.

Important Considerations

  • Stash Space: Your Shared Stash capacity (initially limited) is shared among all characters on the same realm (Eternal or Seasonal). Upgrade stash tabs by purchasing them with Gold at the Stash chest.
  • Legendary Aspects: Extracted Legendary Aspects (not the items themselves) placed in your Shared Stash's Codex of Power section are accessible to all characters.
  • Character-Specific Items: Class-specific items can be stored in the Shared Stash but can only be retrieved and equipped by characters of the matching class.
  • Seasonal Characters: Eternal Realm characters cannot share items with Seasonal characters via the Stash during the active Season. Once the Season ends, Seasonal characters and their items move to the Eternal Realm, allowing future Stash sharing.
  • Trading Limitations: Gold, Crafting Materials, and Quest Items are generally not directly transferable between characters except via specific mechanics: Materials are account-wide, Gold must be spent/traded.

Transfer via Party Members (Limited Use)

  • In a party with another player, you can directly drop tradable items (non-Quest, non-Unique, non-Legendary after first Equip) onto the ground near them.
  • The party member can pick it up. They cannot then put it into their own Stash for your other character. To transfer between your own characters using a party, the other player would need to hold the item while you switch characters, and then drop it back for your new character – this is cumbersome and unreliable.
