Interacting with Sharran Rats in Baldur's Gate 3
When encountering certain rats within environments associated with Shar, they may attempt to engage in a dialogue, potentially offering to lead you to a hidden treasure if you agree not to reveal their secret. However, it is generally recommended not to bargain with these rats.
The more direct approach involves attacking one of these specific rats. This action will typically cause any nearby rats of the same kind to become hostile, initiating combat. To effectively target a fleeing or fast-moving rat before it escapes or triggers a wider alert prematurely, consider the following tactics:

- Turn-Based Mode: Entering turn-based mode allows for precise targeting and action before the rat can react or move out of range. This is effective for both melee and ranged attacks.
- Spells or Ranged Attacks: Utilizing spells with an area of effect or a direct ranged attack can neutralize the target rat quickly.
Successfully defeating these Sharran rats is often a prerequisite or a clue to uncovering further secrets related to Shar's influence in the area.
The Altar and Ritual
In some locations where these rats are found, particularly within a hidden chamber they might guard or inhabit, you may discover an altar dedicated to Shar. Interacting with this altar often presents the option to perform a blood sacrifice ritual. Completing this ritual, typically by offering a portion of your character's vitality or a specific item, can result in the revelation of concealed items, such as valuable scrolls and potions, as a reward from Shar.
